Le Nigérien A La Bombinette : Une Opération Sous Faux Pavillon Pour Une Nouvelle Guerre D'Agression US... Au Yémen ?

Attack Yemen?

By Congressman Ron Paul

Congressman Ron Paul gives his thoughts on Yemen, the attempted airline bombing, the motivations of Al Qaeda, the radicalization of the Middle East, and the negation of our liberties to government provided "security."

"The bigger the problem and the more the fear is built up, the more they take away our personal liberties and turn us all into zombies and the American people go along with it and say as long as it makes us safer I guess it's OK to go along but it's time the American people woke up and started realizing that there's a bit of propaganda going on and quite possibly this incident will not only undermine our personal liberties but will also accelerate our intervention and the violence occurring in the Middle East,"

Yemen - The Return Of Old Ghosts

100116:0541 6 min informationclearinghouse.info mots

By Adam Curtis

January 15, 2010 "BBC" -- Friday, 8 January 2010 -- What I find so fascinating about the reporting of the War on Terror is the way almost all of it ignores history - as if it is a conflict happening outside time. The Yemen is a case in point. In the wake of the underpants bomber we have been deluged by a wave of terror journalism about this dark mediaeval country that harbours incomprehensible fanatics who want to destroy the west. None of it has explained that only forty years ago the British government fought a vicious secret war in the Yemen against republican revolutionaries who used terror, including bombing airliners.

Yémen : Les US Y Ont Transféré Des Membres D'Al Qaeda

Failed attack on Detroit-bound plane was retaliation for American military ops in the Arabian country, sources say

By Eric Margolis

January 04, 2010 "Toronto Sun " -- Welcome to the Afghanistan of Arabia.

Yemen, the likely source of the failed Christmas Day airliner bombing at Detroit, has just rudely intruded into the west's awareness. Sources there claim the attack by a young Nigerian was retaliation for extensive covert U.S. military operations in Yemen.

Interventions R Us

War on Terror or War on Disaffected Yemenis?

By Ron Jacobs

January 01, 2010 "Counterpunch " -- As if the US interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan were not enough to satiate the Empire's bloodlust, the calls are increasing for an all-out war on the nation of Yemen. The reason given for this intervention is that the man who apparently wanted to blow up an airliner on Christmas Day 2009 spent some time there and may have received his instructions while he was visiting. Like the increasingly bloody occupation of Afghanistan, Washington wants the world to believe that attacking a nation that hosts organizations intent on resisting US domination will somehow end those organizations existence and make everyone safer. Left unsaid in this rather simplistic equation are the obvious facts. Over eight years of war and occupation of Afghanistan has neither stopped the desire of politically nor religiously motivated individuals to blow up airliners and other structures in their war against US cultural and economic imperialism. Nor has it broken the back of the groups in Afghanistan that also oppose the US intervention in their country. In fact, if we are to believe intelligence reports from various US agencies, these groups are not only still in existence, they have mutated politically and are at least as strong as they were before the US invasion in 2001.

Threats to Yemen Prove America Hasn't Learned the Lesson of History

We are the Awaleq
Born of bitterness
We are the sparks of hell
He who defies us will be burned

December 31, 2009 "The Independent " - -This is the tribal chant of the powerful Awaleq tribe of Yemen, in which they bid defiance to the world. Its angry tone conveys the flavour of Yemeni life and it should give pause to those in the US who blithely suggest greater American involvement in Yemen in the wake of the attempt to destroy a US plane by a Nigerian student who says he received training there.

Obama Takes 'War on Terror' to Yemen

091230:0026 4 min informationclearinghouse.info mots

By Simon Tisdall

December 29, 2009 "The Guardian " -- - Barack Obama's steely vow to hunt down all those responsible for the attempted bombing of an American airliner on Christmas Day has left a crucial question unanswered: whether it was his personal order to US military forces to attack two suspected al-Qaida bases in Yemen with cruise missiles on 17 December that triggered a "revenge" terrorist operation against the Northwest Airlines plane one week later.
